The present Smoky Valley Roller Mill was built in 1898 to replace an earlier mill which had been destroyed by fire. Originally water powered, the mill was later converted to steam power and then to electricity. Now a part of the McPherson County Old Mill Museum complex in south Lindsborg, the mill is put into operation once a year during the annual Millfest celebration in early May. At the Old Mill Museum complex you can visit the historic Swedish Pavilion from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, spend a lazy afternoon beside the Smoky Hill River fishing, or even just daydream. |

The Smoky Valley Roller Mill underwent extensive restoration to its original operating condition starting in the 1960's. Thousands of volunteer hours and donated materials were required to bring the building and machinery to their present state. The mill and museum are open for the public to tour daily excluding holidays. |
